SUMMARY:Transforming the Judgmental Mind: A NYI Weekend Retreat
DESCRIPTION:Transforming the Judgmental Mind: A NYI Weekend Retreat\n \nwith Donald Rothberg\n \nSaturday\, November 16th\, 2019 | 9:00am – 5:00pm\nSunday\, November 17th\, 2019 | 9:00am – 4:00pm\n \n\n \nJudgments of a reactive nature are very strong in most of our lives and in the dominant culture we live in. They can distort our perceptions\, make relationships difficult\, and undermine our work in the world. \nIn this retreat\, we will explore such judgments (and their difference from non-reactive discernment) and how to transform them. We will cultivate mindfulness of judgments; inquiry into the deep roots of judgments; and heart practices such as lovingkindness\, forgiveness\, and compassion. We will also explore the somatic and social dimensions of judgments–how we internalize dominant views (e.g.\, of race\, gender\, etc.). \nThese tools will help us to preserve the intelligence and energy often found in judgments\, using them for discernment and compassionate action\, while working through judgments’ destructive\, automatic\, and compulsive aspects. \nThe retreat will combine silent meditation practice\, guided meditations\, short talks\, and discussion. \nDonald Rothberg will also give an evening talk on the Seven Stages of the Spiritual Journey on Friday\, November 15th from 7-9pm. Click here for more info. \nRegistration:\nPlease register at the highest level that your generosity offers.\nExplanations of levels follow below.\n \nRegistration Fees include Teacher Support\nNew York Insight Meditation Center has streamlined the registration fee levels.
