In-Person and Online: Accessing The Heart Through The Body – A Daylong Retreat

with Chas DiCapua

Saturday, May 9th, 2026 | 10:00am – 5:00pm ET

In-Person Location: New York Insight at 115 West 29th Street, 12th Floor

Just by being aware of the body, we can learn to provide a stable home and resting place for the heart.

More often than not, the “citta”—Pali for “heart/mind”—is driven out of ourselves to look for fulfillment in the form of scrolling, food, and other forms of distraction or entertainment. When the heart goes out looking for fulfillment in any place but the present moment, a dissonance occurs. There is a gap between what we are experiencing and where our attention is. The Buddha said that gap is stress.

Through cultivation of body-based awareness, including awareness of the body breathing, we can return to the present moment. By doing this we start to give the heart a place to rest. When the heart is in the present moment and at rest, it can fully experience its innate qualities of sympathetic presence, expansiveness, and ease. The Buddha described these qualities of heart/mind as being our true home and our innate treasure.

Through sitting and walking practice, we will practice becoming intimately connected to the body and breath as a way to create this suitable home for the Citta.

During this session, you’ll learn how to:

  • Work with difficult emotions
  • Develop concentration
  • Notice how the experience of your life is constantly changing

Join us to learn this Dharma tool of inhabiting the energies of the body—a tool we can bring to bear on all aspects of our Dharma practice.
