New York Insight Meditation Center’s aspiration to build a truly thriving, diverse spiritual community that supports deep practice rests with our teachers. Teachers light the path of the Dharma.
NYIMC has long recognized the need for a central body, a person or persons, to hold the spiritual direction of the community. After a deep exploration through an ad hoc Advisory Council, resulting in a recommendation for spiritual leadership of NYIMC, we announced the formation of the Dharma Leadership Council this fall. Our new spiritual leadership will be held by three dedicated teachers, rooted in our tradition, who will guide our course and ensure the integrity of the teachings we offer. This new Council will be entrusted to:
• ensure an ongoing teaching presence, responsive to student needs, including pastoral care.
• strengthen our programs with consistent guidance on what is taught and who is teaching
• infuse the core values of the Dharma into our leadership infrastructure and all of our activities.
