The Brahma Viharas: Loving What Is

with Lani Miller

Wednesdays, September 26th – October 24th, 2018 | 7:00pm-9:00pm

The Brahma Viharas include four different qualities which can be cultivated: Metta (Loving Kindness), Karuna (Compassion), Mudita (Sympathetic or Empathetic Joy) and Upekkha (Equanimity).

Often this overall practice is simply described as Metta practice. We can offer Metta to ourselves, our loved ones and even those “difficult” people in our lives. Ultimately Metta can be offered  to all beings everywhere. A unique aspect of Metta being cultivated in this way is that the lovingkindness is unconditional, without expectations or demands. The cultivation and development of these qualities is a unique process and journey  for each person.

Each person in this course will be invited and supported in exploring how to apply the Metta practice in the ways that most resonate for them.

The course will include direct experiential practices, talks from the teacher, and group sharing.

Class sessions: 9/26, 10/3, 10/17, 10/24. Note this class will not meet on 10/10.
